Stephen Colbert breaks down Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump

Stephen Colbert on the back-and-forth between President Trump and Senator Harris
Just days after being named Joe Biden’s running mate, Senator Kamala Harris wasted no time in going on the offensive. President Donald Trump, always looking for a fight, did the same. After watching it unfold, Stephen Colbert likes what he sees.
Anyone who goes after President Trump is going to be on Colbert’s good side. Sen. Harris has been on The Late Show a number of times so a friend of the show going after the president is especially entertaining for the comedian.
And that is exactly what Sen. Harris did in her first event with former Vice President Joe Biden after joining the ticket. The former prosecutor hammered President Trump for his handling of the pandemic and the economy.
President Trump defending himself and attacked Sen. Harris during a White House press conference and on Twitter. Like a boxing judge, Stephen Colbert scored the fight during his Late Show monologue on Wednesday night. You can probably guess who Colbert has coming out on top after round one.
Stephen Colbert likes what he sees from Senator Kamala Harris
Sen.Harris proved in the debates that she can be a very tough opponent. Nobody knows this better than Vice President Biden. Now Sen. Harris has turned her attention to President Trump full time and Colbert likes what he sees.
The Late Show host was especially impressed with Sen. Harris’ line about President Trump running the economy he inherited into the ground. Colbert, like the rest of late-night, has always been quick to remind the president of his business failures and suggest that his wealth was inherited, not earned.
Colbert was less than impressed with President Trump’s response. The comedian mocked the president for referring to Sen. Harris as “nasty” it what was a rehashing of his 2016 attacks on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. If Colbert can figure out new ways to insult President Trump everyday then he assumed the president could come up with new material after four years to think about it.
The best explanation Colbert can come up with is that President Trump didn’t prepare for Sen. Harris to join the ticket. His talking points and “zingers” are all designed for more liberal members of Congress yet the president is trying to make them stick on Sen. Harris.
Colbert has the first round of Harris v. Trump going to the Senator from California. The Late Show host doesn’t see any signs of life from the president so don’t expect any massive comeback ahead of the Nov. election. For their sake, hopefully Team Trump isn’t relying on Vice President Mike Pence to be the one to score points against Sen. Harris when the debates arrive.
