Jason Sudeikis could be very busy this fall with a return to Saturday Night Live

The internet rightfully celebrated this week when Senator Kamala Harris was named the Democratic nominee for vice president because it meant more Maya Rudolph. The former Saturday Night Live cast member is expected to cameo throughout the upcoming season. And the Joe Biden to her Kamala Harris may very well be Jason Sudeikis.

Sudeikis portrayed former Vice President Joe Biden during his run as a Saturday Night Live cast member. He returned during season 45 to play 2020 presidential candidate Biden, sharing that duty with Woody Harrelson and John Mulaney.

Maya Rudolph has already said she’s ready and willing to return to SNL when Lorne Michaels calls. And while Harrelson and Mulaney did just fine as the former vice president, fans are hoping that it is Sudeikis who returns to the role full time.

Stephen Colbert asked Sudeikis about that very topic on Wednesday night’s The Late Show. Sudeikis shared his thoughts while also giving Colbert some tips on pulling off the perfect Biden impression.

Jason Sudeikis is open to returning to Saturday Night Live next season

Letting “the teeth do the work” and saying old-timey words makes it sound like anyone can play Joe Biden. That may be why it seemed like just about everyone did during season 45 of Saturday Night Live. But for so man SNL fans, Jason Sudeikis is their Joe Biden.

Sudeikis sounded open to the idea of returning when asked by Stephen Colbert. Like so many former cast members, Sudeikis suggested it would be an honor to be asked back to SNL. It is the same sentiment that Maya Rudolph shared when the Kamala Harris news broke.

Fans couldn’t have asked for a better situation than to have Sudeikis and Rudolph be the team moving forward. If the Democratic ticket takes the White House in the Nov., it could mean a lot more reactions like the ones we saw last season when Sudeikis and Rudolph returned to Studio 8H:
