Fans congratulated Maya Rudolph after the Kamala Harris announcement

When former Vice President Joe Biden announced that California Senator Kamala Harris would be his running mate, a lot of people were very happy. Among the most excited were Saturday Night Live fans who knew the news meant one thing: more Maya Rudolph.

Rudolph returned to Saturday Night Live and helped start season 45 off with a bang back in Sept. 2019. Along with Larry David as Senator Bernie Sanders, Rudolph made a cameo as then-Democratic candidate for president Kamala Harris.

Rudolph returned as Sen. Harris for the Nov. 23 episode hosted by Will Ferrell and then again in the record-setting Dec. 21 episode hosted by Eddie Murphy. Sen. Harris herself approved of Rudolph’s portrayal in what quickly became a fan-favorite part of season 45.

Sen. Harris and the fans weren’t the only ones to recognize Rudolph. She picked up an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. Looking back at the sketches, it’s easy to understand why.

Get ready to see more Maya Rudolph on Saturday Night Live

Saturday Night Live may not know exactly how it will come back for season 46 but it will be back. And when it does, it will feature even more Maya Rudolph thanks to the Biden/Harris ticket.

Fans are guaranteed to get a sketch based on the upcoming debates between Senator Harris and Vice President Mike Pence. For Saturday Night Live, that means Rudolph will go head-to-head with the resident Pence impersonator Beck Bennett.

What is not certain is who will be tasked with portraying former Vice President Joe Biden in season 46. In this past season, Woody Harrelson, John Mulaney, and Jason Sudeikis all took on the role. Hopefully, Sudeikis returns and partners with Rudolph. Then again, SNL may look in house to avoid depending on a cameo like it has with Alec Baldwin as President Trump for the past four years.

Rudolph indicated she’s ready to return to Saturday Night Live now that Sen. Harris is guaranteed to remain in the news through at least Nov. The cast and crew at SNL have to be excited and we know that fans can’t wait.
