J.B. Smoove has ideas on how Curb Your Enthusiasm would do a pandemic episode

No show on television is better suited to address the pandemic than Curb Your Enthusiasm. Star J.B. Smoove already knows exactly how his character Leon and Larry David would survive.

Curb Your Enthusiasm wrapped up season 10 back in March. It came to an end just as concerns over the novel coronavirus were starting to ramp up but few people could have predicted that we’d still be talking about five months later.

Quarantine and lockdown protocols meant that the production of television shows and movies also came to a halt. It gave creative fans a chance to imagine what their favorite characters would be doing and the storylines that could come from the situation. The creators of several successful shows even got in on the act as well.

Fans immediately singled out Curb Your Enthusiasm as the perfect show to take on social distancing, isolation, and everything else that came with life in the age of COVID-19. On Late Night with Seth Meyers, J.B. Smoove weighed in on how Leon would be thriving right now and made a pretty compelling argument as to why:

J.B. Smoove says Leon is too resourceful not to thrive during a pandemic

Leon Black has always made the best of his situation even if he’s had to create the situation himself. He found himself a nicer place to live by moving in with Larry David and then stuck around until he took over Larry’s pool house for himself.  The fan-favorite character lives by his own set of rules and has spent years advising Larry on how to navigate any predicament.

So it is no surprise that J.B. Smoove is confident that Leon would do quite well during a pandemic, comparing his character favorably to the indestructible cockroach. And even if times got tough, a shell game with three baby pools would be Leon’s perfect escape.

Curb Your Enthusiasm has been renewed for season 11 so Smoove will have a chance to pitch this idea to Larry David if the HBO show decides to take on the pandemic. Then again, we’ve already been treated to David’s perspective on quarantine:
