Pete Davidson recapped season 45 of Saturday Night Live on Late Night with Seth Meyers

It’s hard to believe but it has only been a little over a month since Saturday Night Live signed off with its season 45 finale. It was a season unlike any other and one that fans will surely remember for a long time to come. Cast member Pete Davidson reflected his favorite moments while visiting Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Casting controversies, a record-setting episode, and three remote shows helped season 45 of Saturday Night Live stand out. The novel coronavirus pandemic ultimately cut the season short as SNL said goodbye until the fall on May 9.

Pete Davidson was among those who found himself front and center from the start. He initially missed episodes while filming The Suicide Squad. Personal reasons kept him out of another show and his comments about his SNL future sparked more behind-the-scenes drama.

But Davidson eventually focused on his comedy, the cast came together through a strange time, and the King of Staten Island star announced plans to return for season 46. On Monday night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, Davidson shared some of his personal highlights from the truly unique SNL season.

Pete Davidson was at his best during Saturday Night Live at Home

Saturday Night Live at Home presented an unusual challenge to the cast: how to produce sketches from their own homes without the typical help from props, makeup, and wardrobe professionals. It was a slightly easier task for Pete Davidson who has always been at his best when playing a version of himself.

We knew that Davidson was an ideal candidate to appear during “Weekend Update” and he did just that. But what was most impressive was the production of his music videos. SNL fans were convinced that Davidson had enough material for an entire album after being quarantined.

The best of Davidson’s musical contributions was “Stuck in the House.” It perfectly summed up what so many people were going through in the early stages of lockdown. And it got a boost from Davidson’s friend and SNL legend Adam Sandler.

Davidson gave a little insight to Meyers on how the song came together. It also gave both comedians a chance to praise Sandler and confirm his reputation as one of the kindest, nicest people in the entertainment industry.

Davidson also named his favorite moment from season 45. And like a lot of other Saturday Night Live fans, it involved John Mulaney. Mulaney hosted the Feb. 29 episode, coming at the perfect time when Davidson’s off-screen drama was at its peak and the spotlight needed to be back on the comedy. “Airport Sushi” helped do just that and finished as Davidson’s favorite sketch of season 45.
