Saturday Night Live season 45’s best cameos – 2. Ryan Reynolds

Anytime Will Ferrell returns to Saturday Night Live, the energy in the room picks up. He’s routinely considered one of the show’s best cast members off all-time. And with seven years as a performer and five turns as host, it’s easy to see why he’s right at home in Studio 8H.

That is unless an A-lister like Ryan Reynolds is in the audience. The Deadpool star made a surprise appearance in the SNL crowd and completely derails Ferrell’s momentum. Reynolds’ popularity is at an all-time high and even with Ferrell returning to SNL, the actor manages to steal the show.

It is not often that Reynolds plays the straight man. But he and Ferrell make for a perfect comedy duo during the monologue. Unsurprisingly, fans were soon begging for a big screen team-up between the two after this show aired. Looks like they will get their wish in the form of Christmas Carol remake.

Reynolds stuck around long enough to pop up during “Weekend Update.” He joined Alex Moffat’s “Guy Who Just Bought a Boat” as “Guy Who Knows the Owner” to display a brand of humor more closely associated with Reynolds’ past work.
