Saturday Night Live season 45 featured a surprise cameo just about every week so Last Night On picks the five best.

Week after week, Saturday Night Live gets fans excited about who they could see as the host. The biggest names in movies, television, sports, and music all take the stage at Studio 8H and get their moment in the SNL spotlight. But season 45 proved that a surprise cameo can get fans just as excited as any host.

It seemed like every week had a special guest join in on the fun. SNL’s coverage of the Democratic campaign certainly helped that as Larry David, Maya Rudolph, and Rachel Dratch made several appearances as Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, and Amy Klobuchar.

Then there was Alec Baldwin as President Donald Trump. Baldwin has been something of an honorary cast member the past few years given the number of times he’s played the role. Season 45 may have been the end of this memorable run but only time will tell.

But as much as those were “surprise” cameos, Saturday Night Live fans could see some of them coming. Fancasting political sketches has become popular especially on Twitter and the show typically comes through with the right choices.

So for this list, we’re eliminating those from consideration on season 45’s best cameos. Instead, we’ll focus on the really surprising guests who caught fans off guard and had everyone talking the next day. Let’s get started.
