Here are five late night television show guests that fans should be excited to see this week.

In these abnormal times, late night television is doing its best to maintain a normal schedule. Shows may be broadcast from hosts’ homes but the goal of entertaining audiences night in and night out remains the same. And as always, a big part of that is the celebrity guest.

After seeing Late Night with Seth Meyers take last week off, fans will be happy to know that the entire lineup of shows is set to return with new episodes this week.

Since the pandemic delayed the production of so many television shows, movie releases, and concert tours, it’s not like stars are out in full force to promote their projects. This has put even more attention on streamed shows and movies and other media fans can enjoy directly from home.

It also means that late night shows are more inclined to book a guest with whom the host is friendly or makes for good conversation. You’ll find an example or two of that in Last Night On’s picks for guests to watch this week.

John Mulaney

John Mulaney is a perfect late night guest no matter what show he visits. The stand-up comedian and former Saturday Night Live writer is at the top of his game right now with no better proof existing than his Netflix special John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch.

On Monday, April 27 fans can see him on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Every time these two chat, something hilarious or insightful comes out of it. Expect more of the same on Monday as Mulaney opens up about quarantine life in New York City.

Thomas Middleditch and Ben Schwartz

There is no better time to be watching Netflix than right now. On Tuesday, April 28 Thomas Middleditch and Ben Schwartz, the stars of Netflix’s newest comedy special, check in with The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Middleditch & Schwartz is a long-form improv special and unlike anything else Netflix has released. The special is based on the improv comedy tour the duo has shared around the country.

The two comedians could also talk with James Corden about their independent projects. Middleditch will lend his voice to the upcoming animated series Solar Opposites. Schwartz is set to reprise his role as Jean-Ralphio in the Parks and Rec reunion special airing Thursday on NBC.

Shailene Woodley

One of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘s most interesting guests returns on Wednesday, April 29. Tune in to hear from actress Shailene Woodley.

Woodley’s most recent film Endings, Beginnings was released digitally on April 17 as a result of the pandemic. The film also stars Jamie Dornan and Sebastian Stan with Woodley especially receiving praise for her work.

Anyone familiar with Jimmy Fallon’s chats with Woodley knows that the actress is eager to share her hobbies. Whether it is home remedies, recipes, or board games, you can be sure that Woodley will inspire audiences on how to make the most of social distancing and quarantining.

Chris O’Dowd

One of late night’s best storytellers comes to Conan. See actor Chris O’Dowd and Conan O’Brien chat on Thursday, April 30.

O’Dowd is known for The IT CrowdBridesmaids, and Girls. His next release is the film How to Build a Girl, set to be available May 8. After that, he will be reunited with his Bridesmaids co-star Melissa McCarthy in The Starling for Netflix.

In every late night interview he’s done, O’Dowd has had a funny story to share or a memorable one-liner. That should make it easy for him to have a conversation with Conan O’Brien without a studio audience.
