The best indication that there is no rivalry in late night is the relationship between Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert. Can anyone imagine Jay Leno and David Letterman pulling off something like this back when they hosted The Tonight Show and The Late Show?

Inspired by the Netflix series Stranger Things, Fallon and Colbert put out their cover of The NeverEnding Story theme back in 2019. It combined two things that the comedians love the most: music for Fallon and fantasy for Colbert. It is also another example of how strong the relationship is between Stranger Things and late night television programs.

Their respective shows may go head-to-head in the ratings but it is clear that Fallon and Colbert root for each other. It is proof that drama isn’t always necessary to grab audience attention. These two comedians have figured out that working together can create a lot more content and opportunities than being enemies.

Fans can expect to see crossovers like this for as long as Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert are in late night television. Considering their success and popularity, it’s not a stretch to say there is no end in sight for this story either.
