Martha Stewart gives Conan O’Brien an Irish cooking lesson

It is an unlikely comedy duo but Conan O’Brien and Martha Stewart have been doing segments together for years. Back in the Late Night with Conan O’Brien days, Stewart was a frequent interview guest and helped out with a number of remote pieces.

In this clip from 2008, Stewart tries to hold O’Brien’s attention long enough to show him how to make a glazed ham, soda bread, and a specialty St. Patrick’s Day cocktail. Things go about as expected for anyone familiar with the dynamic between the two.

Ireland isn’t exactly known for its cooking which is why O’Brien is skeptical of the soda bread. Even made by Martha Stewart, the bread doesn’t appeal to the comedian. But with some butter, it goes down easy. Just not as easily as the Late Night host put down the Irish Ricky.

O’Brien has a pretty heavy pour when making the drink and doesn’t exactly follow Stewart’s precise instructions. That is followed up with a quick chug of the Black and Tan and topped off with a shot right from the bottle. He may not like Irish food but O’Brien makes it clear how much he appreciates an Irish beverage.
