Margot Robbie and Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show rivalry continues
By Matt Moore
Margot Robbie and Jimmy Fallon played Know It All in another installment of their Tonight Show rivalry.
Jimmy Fallon has made it well-known that he is a very competitive guy. The Tonight Show host has challenged countless guests to games and contests over the years. In that time, Fallon has found a true rival in actress Margot Robbie.
Robbie is currently out promoting her film Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The superhero movie features Robbie reprising her Suicide Squad role as Harley Quinn and also features Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, and Ewan McGregor as Black Mask.
Birds of Prey has been taking over late night ahead of its release on Feb. 7. McGregor appeared on The Tonight Show last Friday while Winstead was there on Monday night. McGregor will then be on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday night and Winstead will visit Conan on Thursday.
On Tuesday night, it was Robbie’s turn to plug Birds of Prey on The Tonight Show. In the process, Robbie continued her rivalry with host Jimmy Fallon. The two have faced off in a number of games and challenges with both sides scoring wins over the years. Tuesday night was another high-pressure, quick thinking game of “Know It All.”
It was a savvy, veteran Tonight Show game move by Robbie to put Fallon on the spot right away with “16th century Swedish architects.” Such a maneuver is to be expected considering how many times Robbie has been challenged on the show.
Robbie’s past appearances on The Tonight Show certainly informed the categories included in this edition of “Know It All.” The actress is arguably the face of the DC movie universe behind Gal Gadot, making her something of an expert on superheroes. And Robbie also detailed her heavy metal phase to Fallon during a 2016 interview.
But Robbie’s heavy metal fandom backfired on her as she doubled up Metallica and gave Fallon the win. The good news for Robbie is that her immense talent and successful career has ensured she will be returning to The Tonight Show again and again for years to come. Plenty of time to even the score.
“Know It All” joins the long list of games and challenges in the Robbie vs. Fallon saga. Others include “Flip Cup,” “Box of Lies,” the “Whisper Challenge,” and the very memorable round of “Pour It Out.”
