Is Saturday Night Live new tonight, January 11?
By Matt Moore
Should Saturday Night Live fans expect to see a brand new episode tonight on NBC?
Saturday Night Live ended its 2019 on a high note when Eddie Murphy returned as host. It means that fans are eager for the show to return and see the momentum continue in 2020.
Murphy’s Dec. 21 episode was the most watched episode of Saturday Night Live over a decade when you account for live and DVR viewings. It had been some time since the show had the buzz around it for something other than a headline-grabbing cast member or a firing.
But since that record-breaking show, Saturday Night Live has not been seen. Murphy led the Christmas episode which led into the show’s yearly break for the holidays. Whether SNL still has the momentum and buzz from Murphy or if the hiatus has washed it out remains to be seen.
We will only know for sure when the show returns for 2020 and kicks off the second half of season 45. So will that be tonight? Or will fans have to keep waiting for SNL to return?
Sit tight, fans. The wait is almost, almost over. There is not a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight, Jan. 11. But we’re getting close.
Saturday Night Live is set to continue season 45 on Jan. 25. Marriage Story and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker star Adam Driver will be the host. Halsey will be the musical guest.
If SNL wants to recapture some buzz after its holiday hiatus then Driver is a wise choice. He has had two successful turns as host including one last season. Fans are unanimous in declaring him the best part of the latest Star Wars trilogy, helping him continue on his path of becoming one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors.
