We look back at which Saturday Night Live hosts have stood out the most in season 45.

We are just about halfway through season 45 of Saturday Night Live. It has been a season of surprises, cameos, and ups and downs. Among the season’s bright spots have been the pics for host.

It may be hard for anyone other than a dedicated Saturday Night Live fan to name a signature sketch of season 45. Most casual viewers are familiar with the political material and cold opens. But few other sketches have truly caught fire this season. Yet just about anyone could tell you at least one person who has hosted the first 11 episodes.

There is more to picking a Saturday Night Live host than just going with whatever celebrity is most popular at the moment. The person first has to want to do it. Then there are considerations like sense of humor, comfort in front of a live audience, and what will generate buzz for Saturday Night Live.

The choices in season 45 have been spot on. Whether or not the host, along with the cast and writers, delivered on their given week is a different story. But you can’t argue with choices like Chance the Rapper, Harry Styles, Kristen Stewart, or Jennifer Lopez. The 11 hosts we’ve seen so far are all successful, popular, and brought with them a dedicated fanbase.

So who has stood out above the rest? That’s what this list is all about as we count down the top five hosts of season 45 so far. Be sure to let us know what you think in the comment section!
