If you need inspiration for a New Year’s resolution, look no further than this vintage Saturday Night Live sketch featuring Drunk Uncle.

With only hours left in 2019, many people are getting ready to put their New Year’s resolutions to the test. But if you’re still not sure what you want to change in 2020, then maybe you can take some inspiration from Saturday Night Live‘s Drunk Uncle.

Drunk Uncle was the signature character of Bobby Moynihan during his eight season on Saturday Night Live. It many ways, Drunk Uncle was ahead of his time and would be right at home in the current political climate. But the again, it’s probably for the best that we got Drunk Uncle when we did or else he wouldn’t have seemed so absurd.

Like other “Weekend Update” characters, Drunk Uncle was always brought in under the premise of talking about a holiday or major cultural event. New Year’s Day was no exception and it gave us one of the best holiday bits in Saturday Night Live‘s history.

So if you’re struggling to decide on a New Year’s resolution, then maybe Drunk Uncle can help. If anything, he could set the example how how not to be in 2020.

Just like he did in 2012, Drunk Uncle will get his New Year’s wish to watch the Vikings game in 2020. Although with a wildcard weekend match-up against the New Orleans Saints, you’d have to expect Drunk Uncle will be a little more sauced up when things don’t go the Vikings way.

Watching Moynihan’s character in 2019 (or 2020) does make for a different viewing experience. His politically incorrect character was so ridiculous while at the same time hitting close to home with some families own experiences. But now he sounds like any other person you may come across on Twitter or find being mocked by late night.

So maybe it is for the best that we leave Drunk Uncle in the past after tonight. He may not be that much help with resolutions but at least we got to hear him out one more time. Happy New Year everyone and if you’re going to drink like Drunk Uncle, be careful out there!
