Should fans expect to see a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight on NBC?

We are now just days away from Christmas. Hanukkah starts tomorrow. The New Year is a little over a week from today. It all adds up to a busy time of year and a time in which schedules can be hectic. The same can be said for Saturday Night Live.

Like everyone else, Saturday Night Live carves out time around the holidays for a break. Fans can’t realistically expect the cast, writers, and staff do write, produce, and perform a show every single week. And they especially can’t be expected to do that during the holidays.

Yet at the same time, Saturday Night Live fans know that the show does some of its best work with inspiration from the holidays. Thanksgiving, Halloween, and even St. Patrick’s Day have all helped produce some memorable sketches over the past 44 seasons and again this year.

Speaking of season 45, the year has already given us so top notch Christmas sketches. The past two episodes hosted by Jennifer Lopez and Scarlett Johansson featured some Christmas themed sketches that immediately ranked among the best in recent memory.

So what will fans get tonight? Has Saturday Night Live officially started its holiday break? Or will we get one more holiday episode to close out 2019?

Good news: there will be a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight. And here’s even better news: it is hosted by none other than Eddie Murphy and features Lizzo as the musical guest.
