2019 was Lilly Singh’s year. The YouTube sensation kicked off her own late nigh television show A Little Late with Lilly Singh and capped things off with making the FanSided 250. Singh has her immense talent and passionate fanbase to thank.
The FanSided 250 ranks the most buzz-worthy, hottest fandoms of the year. Everything from video games to sports teams to individual celebrities are in play. And in a time when there are about a dozen late night hosts, it is Lilly Singh who can boast the most trending fanbase in 2019.
It is not hard to see why Singh made the list, coming it at number 241 overall and number 29 among celebrities. Her YouTube channel has 15 million subscribers, she has another six million followers on Twitter and nine million on Instagram.
That social media presence certainly came in handy when Singh started her late night show. A Little Late is NBC’s third show and follows The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night With Seth Meyers. Millions of Singh’s fans were ready to follow her to her next project and helped A Little Late make an immediate impact.
Of course, Singh only has so many fans and such strong support because of what she brings to the table. Her YouTube channel features original sketches and fan-favorite characters. She has show even more versatility as a late night host, coming in to her own as an interviewer.
There is nobody in late night television that looks like Lilly Singh or has her voice. More perspectives and diversity is always a good thing, whether it is in late night comedy or the entertainment industry at large. Singh brings that and so much more with A Little Late.
