Jimmy Kimmel’s wax figure prank terrifies staff and family
By Matt Moore
Jimmy Kimmel added to his long list of pranks, this time putting his wax figure to good use.
Jimmy Kimmel was an unlikely choice for a late night television host when he began back in 2003. The decision by ABC has paid off and Kimmel has become one of the most popular personalities on television. So it makes sense that he’s getting his own wax figure at Madame Tussauds Hollywood.
Part of Kimmel’s success over the years has been for his infamous pranks. There was the “twerking fail” video, the annual Halloween candy prank on children, and countless pranks targeting Kimmel’s family members like Aunt Chippy.
Kimmel has become so synonymous with pranks that anytime something odd happens, people stop and ask “was this Jimmy Kimmel?.” The gags have helped make Jimmy Kimmel Live! unique and only helped the case that Kimmel is worthy of receiving a wax replica at Madame Tussauds.
The late night host gave fans a sneak peek at the figure on Monday night’s show. But Kimmel being Kimmel, he couldn’t just wheel it out in front of the audience. Instead, he put the figure to good use and pulled another prank on his staff, including his cousin Micki.
The wax figure prank has become a pretty common stunt. Typically it involves the celebrity standing still and pretending to be made of wax. Kimmel twists the premise just a bit and saves the big reveal for the end. It pays off as he gets the best reaction from his cousin who by then had been scared a half dozen times.
So while “wax figure prank” may sound predictable, Kimmel offers something different. Fans wouldn’t expect anything else from the late night king of pranks. Kimmel is probably just happy that his cousin Micki can take a joke a lot better than Aunt Chippy.
