Kristen Stewart returns to host Saturday Night Live where she has a history of appearing in some bizarre sketches.

Hosting Saturday Night Live multiple times can be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it means that the Lorne Michaels approved of your performance and fans will want to see you again. On the other hand, expectations can be set higher than normal and you can’t just repeat what you’ve don in the past. This is the situation Kristen Stewart finds herself in as she hosts Saturday Night Live for the second time.

Saturday Night Live is still in the early stages of season 45. However, fans have already been treated to familiar faces as hosts. Stewart will join Woody Harrelson and Chance the Rapper as hosts who have returned for another visit this season.

Stewart last hosted in Feb. 2017. It was an excellent episode that featured Melissa McCarthy as White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. It also made headlines after Stewart accidentally dropped an F-bomb during her monologue.

Stewart quickly ad-libbed that she wouldn’t be invited back after that slip-up. But clearly that didn’t come true as the Charlie’s Angels star is indeed back as host this week. The expletive can be forgiven considering how well Stewart performed in her sketches.

And those sketches back in season 42 all had a common theme. They were almost all some of the weirdest and most bizarre in terms of concept that Saturday Night Live did all year. Fans should expect a return to that this weekend with Stewart back in Studio 8H.

If you don’t quite recall Stewart’s sketches from a few years ago, we have your refresher. Stewart may have been the perfect host for writers and performers to pitch some of their more out-of-the box sketch ideas and it certainly paid off.

These three sketches have earned just under 40 million views combined on YouTube. Clearly Kristen Stewart made an impact on Saturday Night Live the first time around. There is no reason not to expect more of the same this week and it couldn’t come at a better time.

Season 45 has been off to an uneven start. Political sketches continue to get the most buzz outside of regular viewers. But there exists little difference between what Alec Baldwin says in a cold open compared to what the real Donald Trump says each week. That has made it harder to find a creative way to mock the President.

David Harbour’s Joker parody “Grouch” is perhaps the best original sketch of the season so far. Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s episode was the most consistent from start to finish and featured everything from the absurd to satire.

Kristen Stewart should outpace both of those hosts with the right material. Considering her history on the show, Stewart should turn in a sketch-of-the-year nominee while being one of the most consistent hosts from the monologue through the goodnights.
