Is Saturday Night Live new tonight, October 26?
By Matt Moore
Will it be another week off or a brand new episode tonight for Saturday Night Live?
Saturday Night Live may have surprised fans last week when it aired a rerun. The repeat came after just three new episodes kicked off season 45.
The schedule at Saturday Night Live has always been something that irritates fans expecting a brand new show every week after the premiere. But that just isn’t realistic nor has it ever been the case when it comes to writing, producing, and performing the live sketch show.
Last week was the first of what will be several breaks between now and when the season wraps up in May. These weeks off will come around holidays and also at seemingly random times during the year. Some time off can be useful not just for the cast but the writers, crew, and staff, much like we’ve seen in other late night shows.
So what is the story for this week? Will it be a brand new Saturday Night Live or another week off after a fast and furious run through the first three episodes?
Good news: There will be a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight. Chance the Rapper pulls double duty as both host and musical guest.
You can read Last Night On’s preview of tonight’s show right here. Chance the Rapper has hosted before, so he knows what to expect from SNL just like SNL knows what to expect from Chance. He’s looking to develop a legitimate comedy career and tonight’s episode should go a long way in proving how realistic that goal has become.
Other things to look out for tonight include the return of Pete Davidson to full-time cast duty, the political cold open, and whether anymore surprise cameos are in store. Here’s hoping we get a break from Alec Baldwin as President Donald Trump or Kate McKinnon as Rudy Giuliani. Fans can also see the start of some Halloween sketches, too.
