Stephen Colbert looked at how Bill Barr, Mike Pompeo, and Rudy Giuliani are facing increased scrutiny as the Ukraine scandal develops.

The more news that breaks about the Ukraine scandal, the more we hear about just who was involved. As Stephen Colbert explained on The Late Show, it’s not looking great for Team Trump.

Late night has been covering the story like a news network. From the impeachment inquiry announcement to President Donald Trump’s defense strategy, hosts like Colbert, Seth Meyers, and Jimmy Kimmel have had a lot to say.

Most of that attention has been on President Trump himself. After all, he was the one on the call with Ukraine’s president and he was the one claiming that the call was “perfect.”

But as the fast-moving scandal continues to develop, more individuals from President Trump’s inner circle have come in to play. And as Colbert highlighted, none of is good news.

Attorney General has been on Stephen Colbert’s radar since the release of the Mueller report. Colbert ripped Barr for how he characterized the findings of the report. So that could be why Colbert is lamenting about Barr’s integrity being questioned in the Ukraine controversy.

It was then reported that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo participated in Trump’s infamous call with the president of Ukraine. This comes after a television appearance in which Pompeo acted like he was hearing about the call for the first time. Colbert mocks Pompeo and reminds him that nobody will forget his role in the Trump administration.

Finally the spotlight turns to Rudy Giuliani. President Trump’s personal lawyer has been a central figure in this scandal since it broke. Giuliani has been getting an especially rough treatment from Late Night with Seth Meyers. Now The Late Show piles on and portrays the former New York City mayor as just a little out of touch.

Stephen Colbert calls Bill Barr, Mike Pompeo, and Rudy Giuliani the “about to loser power trio.” We’ll have to wait and see if that is in fact the case. In any event, it’s one less Late Show monologue dedicated to President Donald Trump, so he’s probably happy about that.
