Late Night with Seth Meyers took a closer look at President Trump’s ongoing hurricane saga as well as criticism over his personal property.

The story on President Donald Trump’s hurricane tweets and comments just simply will not go away. It is President Trump himself who is keeping the story alive as Seth Meyers discussed during the latest segment of “A Closer Look.”

Just about every host in late night has commented on Trump’s claims that Alabama was in Hurricane Dorian’s path. Then they were given even more material when Trump doubled down on that claim with even more tweets. A third night of monologues were able to use that doctored weather map to drag Trump over the coals yet again.

Perhaps in response to his late night critics, Trump has not let the story go without attempting to get the last word. By now he should know that strategy isn’t the best way to keep late night hosts like Seth Meyers from calling him out.

It also doesn’t help when a new controversy pops up before the last one can be over. That looks like it may be the case following a report on the Air Force’s use of Trump properties abroad. Meyers took it all into account during “A Closer Look.”

Meyers reminds his viewers that Trump getting the details of a story is nothing new. The President mixing up the Appalachian Trail with the (nonexistent) Tallahassee Trail is a good indication that his confusion over Hurricane Dorian shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise.

In case anyone thinks otherwise, Meyers states that Late Night does not want to keep talking about Trump, hurricanes, and Alabama. The show was more than happy to let it go and move on.

But Meyers isn’t left with much choice after reports revealed that National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) employees were told not to contradict Trump and could be fired by doing so. On top of that, the Republican Party continues to follow Trump’s lead no matter what the issue.

Late Night  also took a closer look at concerns that Trump has used the presidency to enrich himself. It is something that has been brought up a number of times in the past including by Meyers himself.

Clips show that Trump has been pressed on tax payer dollars going to him via his properties but the President claims it has nothing to do with him. Apparently it is coincidence? But Meyers and other late night hosts aren’t buying it.

Most people are probably ready for the hurricane story to go away. That will be up to President Trump. It’s possible that the questions about the use of properties could bring a new storm to the White House instead. No matter what, Seth Meyers will keep taking a closer look at everything.
