Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver joining other late night shows and taking one more summer vacation?

We are more than halfway through the month of August. That means that time is running out to get in another summer vacation. May late night shows are doing just that but what about Last Week Tonight with John Oliver?

Late night will already be pretty quiet this week. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers will all be airing repeats. It will be up to The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Conan, and Lights Out with David Spade to carry the load starting Monday.

But what about HBO’s late night lineup? We already saw Real Time with Bill Maher was back with a new episode on Friday night. Should fans expect the same from Real Time‘s HBO late night partner?

Yes, there will be a new episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. The show will not be taking any more time off this summer and likely won’t until season six concludes in November. It seems as if the break during July was enough for Last Week to recharge its batteries for the stretch run.

As always, it’s impossible to know what exactly subjects John Oliver will talk about tonight. So far this season he has covered everything from mobile homes to warehouses to the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Being surprised is half the fun of watching each week.
