Vanessa Kirby admitted to Jimmy Fallon that she isn’t the most comfortable behind the wheel of a car.

A sign of a good performer is how convincing he or she can be in a role. For her role in Hobbs and Shaw, actress Vanessa Kirby had to convince the audience she knew how to fight and knew her way around a car.

Kirby plays Hattie Shaw, the sister of Jason Statham’s character Deckland Shaw. She is an MI6 agent and no doubt brought some of her experience on Mission; Impossible – Fallout to the role. And it being a Fast and Furious/Dwayne Johnson movie, there was a lot of car chases and fight scenes for Kirby.

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote Hobbs and Shaw, Kirby revealed that one of those came to her easier than the other. Kirby is the first to admit she never imagined herself in an action movie and especially not one so heavily focused on cars. But fighting? That was a little easier to pick up than say, driving and parking a car.

If more people confessed that they are not good drivers like Kirby and Jimmy Fallon did, then maybe the roads would be a little bit safer. In any event, Kirby managed to drive to her meeting without any trouble. It was only after that the Los Angeles Police Department had to be called.

Kirby’s story is one of the more original and entertaining late night guest tales we’ve heard lately. Credit to her for being comfortable enough to share what would be an embarrassing mistake for so many other people.

But if anyone was thinking of teasing Kirby for her mistake, they would probably think twice after seeing her show off her fighting skills. Starring along side Johnson, Statham, and Elba in Hobbs and Shaw meant that Kirby had to learn how to fight. She shows Fallon what she can do with just a jacket so you can imagine what she pulls off in the movie.
