Fortnite champion and brand new millionaire Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf broke down his daily routine on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

If there was any remaining doubt that Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show was not your grandfather’s late night show, look no further than Monday night’s show. Fallon interviewed 16-year-old Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf, the newest world champion Fortnite player.

It’s not exactly Johnny Carson interviewing Bob Hope but that shouldn’t take away from The Tonight Show or Giersdorf’s accomplishment. After all, the show is supposed to reflect the culture and there is no denying the popularity and impact of Fortnite.

And now at the top of the Fortnite world is Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf. He became the Fortnite World Solo Champion and with it a $3 million prize.

Like any other champion athlete, part of Giersdorf’s victory lap included popping up on late night television. He was interviewed by Jimmy Fallon and the Tonight Show host could help but feel a little bit jealous about Bugha’s life.

Wake up at noon. Eat a banana. Warm up the hands. Play video games. It sounds like the life a lot of kids and teenagers wouldn’t mind living. And if you can do all that and pull in $3 million? Well, that’s when you make everyone including Jimmy Fallon jealous.

Fallon’s envy of Giersdorf is a bit different than how some of his other late night colleagues have reacted to the video game. Fallon doesn’t go for the easy, played out jokes of making fun of video game player and eSports. It’s hard to do that when they are making millions of dollars. The same can’t be said for other comedians. We can’t forget about Jimmy Kimmel’s Fortnite prank from last year.

Jimmy Fallon has certainly made The Tonight Show his since taking over. That includes interviewing the guests he finds interesting or that reflect fans’ interest. So don’t be surprised if you see Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf and other professional video game players on late night shows in the future. Just probably not on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
