John Oliver on Late Night with Seth Meyers

Two late night worlds collide on to start the week on Late Night with Seth Meyers. On Monday July 29, fans can watch Last Week Tonight host John Oliver visit Meyers.

Hosts acting as guests on each other’s show is nothing new. It’s been a more and more common practice as the number of hosts has expanded. David Spade used late night shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote his own show. It is a far cry from the days Jay Leno and David Letterman when hosts were openly feuding.

Oliver will most definitely be asked to comment on the election of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Oliver used his most recent episode of Last Week Tonight to cover the topic. He will have to give more of an NBC-friendly approach than what he said on his HBO show but Meyers will be sure to let Oliver shine.

Oliver may also talk about the other biggest story in Great Britain: Brexit. The country’s withdrawal from the European Union is tied directly to Johnson’s election. In the past, Oliver has found a uniquely entertaining way to talk about Brexit with American audiences unfamiliar with the ins and outs of the situation.
