The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Late Night with Seth Meyers were among the late night shows nominated for Emmys.

Nominees for the 71st Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday morning. To no one’s surprise, it was politically charged shows like The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Late Night with Seth Meyers that lead the way in late night categories for Emmys.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was a lock to get multiple nominations. It has consistently been on top of the ratings in late night and finished the season as the number one show  over The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

And while The Tonight Show was not nominated for any Emmys, its partner Late Night with Seth Meyers did. The strength of the show remains the writing, especially in the popular “A Closer Look” segments.

Other fan-favorite shows received nominations for Emmys including Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Saturday Night Live. Here is a complete breakdown of all the late night nominees for the 2019 Emmy Awards along with predictions for a winner in each category:

In addition, Saturday Night Live pops up in a few different Emmys categories against other shows not in the late night genre. In “Outstanding Variety Sketch Series,” SNL faces tough competition from Documentary NowDrunk History, and Who is America?.

For SNL performers, veteran Kate McKinnon received a nomination in “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series” where she faces off against nominees like Sarah Goldberg of Barry, Sian Clifford of Fleabag, and Anna Chlumsky of Veep.

Several hosts from season 44 were also nominated as “Outstanding Guest Actor/Actress in a Comedy Series.” Those nominees are Matt Damon, John Mulaney, Adam Sandler as well as Robert De Niro for his cameos as Robert Mueller. Actresses getting nominations were Sandra Oh and Emma Thompson.
