Is Real Time with Bill Maher new tonight, July 5?

Should fans expect to see a brand new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO tonight?

Here’s hoping that everyone enjoyed the Fourth of July! The holiday came and went but not without some controversy. And when there is controversy, Real Time with Bill Maher is not far behind.

The biggest story from July 4 was of course President Donald Trump’s “Salute to America” celebration on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The president’s speech focused on the American military as a source of national pride. Surprising many, Trump rarely went of script and his address was much less of a campaign rally than some feared.

But even if Trump’s speech wasn’t as divisive as some suggested, the fact that the event was held in the first place was criticized. The cost and the optics were brought up often by opponents.

There were also a number of other stories in the headlines that make for good Real Time topics. The fallout from members of Congress visiting U.S. detention centers, the backlash against Nike’s decision not to release a Betsy Ross inspired shoe, and the debate over a citizenship question on the Census.
