Mila Kunis confesses to criminal past on Conan O’Brien’s podcast
By Matt Moore
Mila Kunis shared stories of being a bored teenager that Conan O’Brien declared the best moment of his podcast.
Just about everyone has at least one crazy story from their teenage years. You would certainly expect some some from Mila Kunis, considering she grew up in Los Angeles and was a television star by the age of 14. Kunis shared some of those stories on Conan O’Brien’s podcast but they weren’t exactly what you would expect.
Mila Kunis has been a longtime guest of Conan O’Brien’s late night shows. She has become one of the more popular guests on Conan and O’Brien has expressed a clear admiration for Kunis as an actress and a person.
That previous chemistry between O’Brien and Kunis made her a perfect guest for this week’s episode of “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend.” Kunis is no stranger to sharing some personal stories with late night hosts. But nothing could really prepare O’Brien for the stories Kunis shared about growing up as a bored teenagers in Los Angeles.
You can jump ahead to the 14 minute mark to hear Kunis start to tell stories from her teenage years. It is revealed that even while starring in That ’70s Show she was running a side business on eBay. Fans of a certain age could very well have purchased a knockoff Backstreet Boys t-shirt designed by Kunis herself.
While making t-shirts sounds innocent enough, O’Brien is quick to point out that it is illegal to be selling unlicensed merchandise. But that didn’t stop Kunis from supplementing her television paychecks with eBay payments.
That leads into what O’Brien calls the best moment of the 33 episode run of “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend.” Kunis confesses to intentionally ramming her car into her friend’s car then letting her friend do the same.
Kunis clarifies that no drugs or alcohol were involved in this instance. Instead it was motivated out of boredom and a bizarre curiosity. The level of teenage boredom that results in crash-testing cars could maybe be understood if Kunis and her friend lived in the middle of nowhere. But this was in Los Angeles and during a time Kunis was on a very popular sitcom.
The second half of the episode covers topics that are a little more serious. Kunis discusses her parenting style, her experience as an immigrant, and how her children react to the celebrity status of both her and her husband Ashton Kutcher.
Conan O’Brien didn’t exaggerate by saying Mila Kunis’ car story was the best moment of the podcast so far. The podcast already boasts probably the best guests among any comedy podcast. Topics can be a bit surprising if fans are only expecting O’Brien’s signature silly style of comedy. But nobody could have expected Kunis to reveal she crashed cars to pass the time.
