David Spade comes to late night television this summer on Comedy Central.

Times are changing in late night. There is a new leader in the ratings in a time when there are more shows than ever. And there are even more programs on the way including one from David Spade this summer.

Spade’s show for Comedy Central was announced earlier this year. The show should solve the network’s problematic time slot after The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Spade’s topics and sense of humor should also immediately stand out compared to politically-minded shows or those without much of an edge.

He will be arriving at a time where The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has become the number one show. However, Spade won’t be trying to do anything like Stephen Colbert but instead offer fans a different approach to late night.

Lights Out with David Spade premieres on Comedy Central on July 29. Check out the new teaser below:

Lights Out is a solid choice for a show name. There are only so many variations on “night” or “late”  that can be used to make the point of…a late night show. Late NightThe Late ShowThe Late Late ShowThe Tonight Show are all taken, not to mention easy to confuse. It’s why so many people simply refer to them by the name of the host.

The title will also help with the show’s focus on social media. A short, easy to remember title makes hashtags and all that good stuff easier to manage and get trending.

Everything seems to moving in the right direction for Spade’s show. He’s on the right network with Comedy Central, returning to the same place he once hosted The Showbiz Show with David Spade. It’s the right time for a show like the one Spade wants to do and he’ll air at the perfect time. Now he has a great title to go along with everything else.
