Close out your late night week with Late Night with Seth Meyers on Thursday, May 23. Seth Meyers will welcome actress, and now director, Olivia Wilde.
Wilde has been acting since 2003 with dozens and dozens of film and television credits to her name. After directing music videos for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes and the Red Hot Chilipeppers, she is making her feature film directorial debut with Booksmart. The comedy, starring Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein, gets released on May 24.
The movie has been getting excellent reviews and Wilde herself has compared it to Superbad in how it portrays a sincere friendship also set during the final days of high school. The support cast features Lisa Kudrow, Will Forte, and Wilde’s husband Jason Sudeikis.
Wilde has appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers before and has great chemistry with Meyers, stemming in part to Meyers’ friendship with fellow Saturday Night Live alum Sudeikis. Meyers is already one of the best interviewers in late night so he’ll be even better sitting across from a friendly face.
Wilde’s personality and storytelling talents are reasons enough to watch her interview. But if the reviews and hype are to be believed, Booksmart is going to be a hit and could develop a cult following similar to those of so many other coming-of-age comedies.
