The Daily Show’s Roy Wood Jr. has a message for Avengers: Endgame spoilers
By Matt Moore
Anyone worried about Avengers: Endgame spoilers needs to listen to The Daily Show’s Roy Wood, Jr. first.
Avengers: Endgame has been out for a few days now and that means a lot of fans know how the movie ends. It also means that anyone who hasn’t seen it is on high alert for any potential spoilers. That can lead to some real fear while online, as explained by The Daily Show‘s Roy Wood, Jr.
It is not surprising that Avengers: Endgame had a massive opening weekend. But “massive” is an understatement when you find out that the Marvel movie made over one billion dollars. Box office numbers like that mean A LOT of people have seen the movie and know the secrets fans after been eager to find out since the end of Avengers: Infinity War.
Comic book movie fans know that there are some people out there who just want to watch the world burn. That means that going online can be like trying to walk through a minefield when it comes to avoiding spoilers posted throughout social media.
If you have come across a spoiler to Avengers: Endgame, Game of Thrones, or anything else, then you know how frustrating it can be as a fan. It also means that you can relate to the warning send out by Roy Wood, Jr. on The Daily Show.
If you want to avoid spoilers then Wood only has one piece of advice: see it at all cost. In the words of the Avengers “whatever it takes” seems to be Wood’s motto when it comes to not having your favorite movie or television show ruined.
As ridiculous as that suggestion is from Wood, his next two points are much more reasonable. They are just as hilarious but hard to argue with the idea behind them.
First, don’t be upset by spoilers for something more than five years old. If you haven’t seen it by now, then that’s on you. There are plenty of ways to catch up with whatever movie or show has been sitting in your queue.
Second, don’t expect decency from social media. Wood’s point extends well beyond just spoilers. Social media can do a lot of good things but it can also be home to a lot of angry people who, again, just want to watch the world burn.
If you follow those two guidelines then spoilers will be much less of a problem for you. And if you’re on the other side and looking to ruin things for people, then don’t be surprised if you end up like the guy in the theater in Hong Kong. Roy Wood, Jr. has given you fair warning!
