Mark Ruffalo fails his Avengers: Endgame lie detector test on The Tonight Show
By Matt Moore
Mark Ruffalo snapped under the pressure when questioned about Avengers: Endgame on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
It’s no secret that the Avengers franchise is one of the most popular and lucrative in movies. What is a secret is how April’s Avengers: Endgame will answer the cliffhangers from last year’s Avengers: Infinity War. For Mark Ruffalo, keeping those secrets is becoming incredibly difficult.
Ruffalo has had a long history with struggling to keep the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s secrets under wraps. The Hulk actor famously live streamed the start of Thor: Ragnarok without knowing it. He also revealed a major plot point of Avengers: Infinity War prior to the film’s release.
With Avengers: Endgame just over a month away from hitting theaters, the press tour for the movie is about to ramp up. That means we will see more and more MCU actors popping up on late night.
It also means that these actors and actresses will be asked what they can tell fans about Endgame. They will no doubt respond that they can’t say anything for fear of upsetting Marvel and spoiling the movie. It’s not like the movie needs much more hype considering the box office domination of Avengers: Infinity War.
But one person who may need to be kept in check? Mark Ruffalo. Take a look at how easily the talented actor was thrown off by Jimmy Fallon’s lie detector test on The Tonight Show
Ruffalo doesn’t confirm or deny much (other than Don Cheadle’s superiority) but that doesn’t mean we didn’t get any information from him. The Bruce Banner/Black Widow relationship question seemed to especially throw Ruffalo for a loop.
Fan theories are nothing new to comic book movies. Many surrounding Endgame now revolve around the Skrulls introduced in Captain Marvel. Shape-shifting aliens on Earth means that any character has the potential to be a Skrull, including the Hulk. Ruffalo didn’t seem too caught off guard by that question but it doesn’t mean the theory can’t be applied to a different Avenger.
Mark Ruffalo has proven to be a good sport when it comes to his reputation for Marvel spoilers. He’s become one of the best recurring guests on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. But he is at his best when he appears with his fellow Avengers who can keep him in check. We certainly haven’t heard the last from Ruffalo on Avengers: Endgame so keep checking Last Night On for updates.
