If you thought Steph Curry sounded a little funny during All-Star Weekend, then you have Jimmy Fallon to blame.

Athletes know that press conferences and daily interviews are all part of the job. For the most part, they have become filled with cliches as players hesitate to say anything that could be misconstrued or come back to haunt them. But during this year’s All-Star weekend, Steph Curry said more than his fair share of interesting things.

Curry is up there with LeBron James as the most popular player the NBA has to offer. That means that everyone wants Curry front and center. Curry has not been too shy about demonstrating his laid back personality and typically steers clear of any controversy.

The Golden State Warriors guard is also no stranger to late night. He’s been on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and was just recently a guest on The Late Late Show with James CordenAnd when it comes to late night, nobody likes playing games as much as The Tonight Show‘s Jimmy Fallon.

One of Fallon’s favorite games lately has been “Word Sneak.” The object of the game is to find a natural way to slip in an otherwise nonsensical word or phrase into the conversation. He’s played with John Krasinski, Steve Carell, and Chris Pratt just to name a few.

But Fallon decided to take the game to the next level for the NBA All-Star festivities with an assist from Steph Curry. If some of Curry’s quotes seemed a bit off, then check out the video below to find out why:

Plenty of news outlets reported on Curry’s interviews and included his “wham, bam, can of ham quote” in the process. Little did they know that Curry was having those lines fed to him by Jimmy Fallon.

It’s another example of Fallon and the rest of the Tonight Show writers to find new and different ways to play to the show’s strengths. Rather than continuing to play “Word Sneak” on the show, something like this gag with Curry keeps the game from becoming stale.

Consider that whenever something strange happens, people are quick to suggest it is another prank by Jimmy Kimmel. Now if Fallon does one or two more versions of “Drop It In,” he could become synonymous with any bizarre interview from an athlete or entertainer. At the very least, “Jimmy Fallon told me to say it” could become a go-to excuse.

There is a lot of potential for “Drop It In” if Jimmy Fallon can get the right person in on the joke. Imagine hearing something like “wham, bam, can of ham” coming from someone like Bill Belichick for example? In any case, we’ve been giving a fair warning. If you hear something weird in a celebrity’s next interview it may be because Jimmy Fallon got to them first.
