Conan O’Brien announces next travel special with help from a local celebrity
By Matt Moore
Conan O’Brien has accepted an invitation to visit the home country of one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
There really is no better time to be a Conan O’Brien fan than right now. His comedy tour recently wrapped up after going around the country. His podcast has been an instant hit and Conan has hit all the right marks since it’s return. Now we’re being treated to another “Conan Without Borders” travel special.
The travel shows quickly became a highlight of O’Brien’s 25 year late night career. They recently became available for streaming on Netflix, letting even more fans go along with Conan to places like Mexico, Italy, and Israel.
We knew that the relaunch of Conan meant O’Brien would be doing more of things he truly wanted to do with his show. Late last year we were given “Conan in Japan” that provided some of the best clips and bits since the travel specials began.
So it is a little surprising that another special has been announced so soon. O’Brien has already been turning out great content on Conan with help from his guests or through remote pieces. But when one of the biggest names in showbusiness invited O’Brien to visit his homeland, it’s understandable why he packed his bags once again:
“Conan Without Borders” is headed to Australia. There really isn’t a place in the world that Conan O’Brien could go that wouldn’t make for an outstanding special. But Australia is still an incredible choice that should provide the perfect atmosphere for Conan to be Conan.
As the animal bit suggested. O’Brien will be playing up some of the stereotypes Americans may have about life in Australia. And while there may not be a language barrier this time, it will still be interesting to see how Conan translates to Australian audiences.
Hugh Jackman will certainly be there to help Conan get the most out of his trip. A few famous Australians have also shown up on Conan so the host will have no shortage of friends if he needs a familiar face to get him out of any trouble.
As Conan O’Brien mentioned, he’s leaving for Australia in a matter of days. You can follow along with his adventure on social media with Team Coco. It will obviously be some time before the special is edited and released on air but stay tuned. Last Night On will have it all covered.
