Conan O’Brien invented his own beer with Samuel Adams
By Matt Moore
Conan O’Brien returned to Boston and created his own specially blended beer at the Samuel Adams brewery.
If you walk into any bar today you’re sure to see a lot of options when it comes to beer. Every brewery seems to have a dozen variations inspired by all kinds of flavors and styles. Samuel Adams in Boston is no different and now has one more blend thanks to Conan O’Brien.
O’Brien visited the Sam Adams brewery in Boston during a stop on his national comedy tour that the beer-maker sponsored. The late night host gave a preview of the visit during a Q&A session while on the tour.
We finally got to see how that visit went on last night’s episode of Conan. As part of the show’s new format, fans can expect to see even more remote pieces that have always been some of O’Brien’s best work. The visit to Sam Adams is just another example of how Conan O’Brien is still at the top of his game:
Based on the reactions of Jim Koch and the brewers at Sam Adams, it’s hard to imagine that Conan’s blend will make it to the public. But that is probably for the best. And you can’t blame him for wanting to down as many beers as possible after listening to that history lesson.
The visit to Sam Adams was another in a series of remotes that have sent O’Brien to breweries, wineries, and distilleries. Each one has been fairly similar yet no less hilarious. O’Brien is on these tours for the same reason everyone else goes on them and that’s to get the samples. This particular visit to Boston was reminiscent of his trip to the Guinness factory in Dublin.
There will surely be a few extra beers consumed this weekend and especially in Boston in honor of the Super Bowl. Patriots’ fans will be enjoying a Sam Adams or two. And if the celebrations go well enough, it wouldn’t be too hard to imagine a few fans recreating Conan O’Brien’s special blend of 26 beers.
