Jimmy Kimmel called in Netflix star Marie Kondo to help him get his office in order.

If one of your New Year’s resolutions for 2019 was to be more organized, then you should get to know Marie Kondo. She hosts the series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo streaming on Netflix. She has a very unique and very specific approach to keeping things neat and orderly. That method was put to the test on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night.

Kondo was given a tour of Jimmy Kimmel’s office at the set of his ABC show. As you might expect, it featured a lot of random items and oddly sentimental keepsakes. And if you’re a fan of Kimmel then you probably weren’t surprised to see how disorganized everything was in his office.

The method used by Kondo is called “KonMari” and is all about retaining those objects that “spark joy.” It draws inspiration from Shinto religion. It is fascinating if you’re into the idea of orderliness and the spiritual aspects of it all. Kimmel doesn’t seem to fall in that category however

This wasn’t the first time that Kimmel has called in a cleaning expert to help out around the office. He previously had a hoarding specialist come in to work with one of his writers. That experience was much more productive than Kondo’s visit to the host’s office.

But despite that we did manage to learn a few things about Kimmel through the tour of his messy office. He has a lot of black socks. A lot. He has trouble keeping track of his pants. A Magic Johnson autograph is something he considers worthy of mounting to the wall. And he really likes the song “The Rain” by Oren “Juice” Jones.

If you were listening to Jimmy Kimmel recite the lyrics “The Rain” and thought it sounded familiar, it should even if you’ve never heard the song before. That’s because it was the inspiration behind one of the best Saturday Night Live sketches in recent memory starring Donald Glover:

It’s clear that Jimmy Kimmel is a lost cause when it comes to getting his office organized. But that may be for the best if it helps him keep doing what he’s doing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. If you want to see more success stories from Marie Kondo then check out her Netflix series that is streaming now!
