Tracy Morgan gave fans a flashback to one of his best Saturday Night Live characters while meeting some wild animals on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

If you ask most people what character they most associate with Tracy Morgan, then you’ll probably get Tracy Jordan from 30 Rock for an answer. And that is certainly understandable considering the hilarious run of that character. But long before Tracy Jordan, Morgan gave us Brian Fellow on Saturday Night Live.

If you are somehow not familiar with Brian Fellow, then we can give you a quick synopsis. Fellow was the host of “Brian Fellow’s Animal Safari,” where he was the unlicensed zoologist often at odds with his animal guests.

The sketch was a hit and ran 10 times during Morgan’s stint on Saturday Night Live. It was one of the few characters that Morgan did that were front and center along with Astronaut Jones and Woodrow the Homeless Man.

If Tracy Jordan was Tina Fey’s exaggerated version of Tracy Morgan, then last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! gave us the chance to see how much of Morgan is in Brian Fellow. Animal expert Dave Salmoni visited the show in what was one of Last Night On’s interviews to watch this week.

Animal experts are a big part of late night television history and are usually a fan favorite when it comes to guests. However, Jimmy Kimmel isn’t the biggest fan of the segment and is almost always on edge when Salmoni comes by with his animal friends. It wasn’t much different this time even with Morgan as company:

We need to give some credit to Dave Salmoni for doing his best to try to educate Kimmel, Morgan, the audience and everyone watching at home. That’s not easy when dealing with two comedians on top of trying to keep the animals safe and calm. Kimmel may keep talking and trying to joke with Morgan as some sort of coping mechanism for his nervousness.

If Jimmy Kimmel had his way it would be a long time before Dave Salmoni returned to the show. And Tracy Morgan would be on the show every night. But if Kimmel is so uncomfortable around the animals, maybe a Morgan-hosted animal show is a better idea? There has to be some Brian Fellow in Morgan itching to get out again.
