Saoirse Ronan has a very specific award-winning impression
By Matt Moore
Saoirse Ronan revealed that she has been winning prizes for her acting long before making movies.
If you’ve seen Saoirse Ronan act in any of her films then you know how incredibly talented she is as a performer. At only 24, the Irish actress has received critical praise for her work again and again. We now know how far back she’s been getting attention for her acting thanks to her latest appearance on The Graham Norton Show.
Ronan already has three Academy Award nominations for her work in Atonement, Brooklyn, and Ladybird. Her performance in the 2018 movie Mary, Queen of Scots could add a fourth nomination for her as well. So again, Saoirse Ronan is a very, very talented actress.
When it comes to The Graham Norton Show there is no other late night talk show that loves finding guests’ hidden talents more. Graham Norton is well known for digging up old clips or early work of his guests to see how far they’ve come. On top of that, Norton is always quick to encourage a celebrity to show off a weird talent, like he recently did with Keira Knightley.
So things aligned perfectly this weekend when Ronan stopped by Graham Norton’s couch. The actress revealed that at 10 years old, she was already winning prizes for her performance abilities.
There may not be a more specific character to impersonate than the Gingerbread Man from Shrek. If someone told you they did an impression of a Shrek character, how many guesses would it take you to land on the Gingerbread Man? That may be why young Saoirse Ronan was selected to win that fabulous Florida holiday.
It may be a stretch to listen to the clip of Ronan and think “she’s going to be a star.” But that’s exactly what has happened. Who would have guessed that an animated cookie from a 2001 movie would play such a huge role in a three-time Oscar nominee’s career? You learn something new every time you tune into The Graham Norton Show.
