Plenty of shows have returned for 2019 by now so is this the week we finally get a new Saturday Night Live?

With some heavy winter weather about to hit the east coast, tonight could be the perfect night to settle in on the couch for a lot of us. How much fun that is could depend on whether or not you’re a Saturday Night Live fan looking for a brand new episode.

It has been a long, long time since we’ve seen Kate McKinnon, Kenan Thompson, Aidy Bryant and the rest of the cast performing new material. The show has been on a break since the Christmas episode hosted by Matt Damon.

In that time a lot has happened that would usually send people looking for a parody on Saturday Night Live. The show’s political sketches have become a calling card and brought on renewed attention from fans, commentators, and even the president himself.

But due to the show’s holiday hiatus, we’ve gone over a month without seeing a new episode while story after story continues to pile up. Think of all the material the show hasn’t been able to use since December. Thankfully, politics is a gift that keeps on giving when it comes to comedy.

That will certainly come in handy this week as the show returns. Yes, there will be an all new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight, Jan. 19. Season 44 is officially back on track!

Kicking off the second half of the season will be host Rachel Brosnahan and musical guest Greta Van Fleet. You can check out Last Night On’s preview of the episode right here before you tune in tonight.
