Stephen Colbert has a few more ideas about how President Trump can change Washington, D.C. after serving fast food in the White House.

Congratulations are in order for the Clemson Tigers. Not only did they win the national championship but the football team is also now forever tied to one of the more bizarre incidents of President Donald Trump’s tenure. And nobody specializes in analyzing these moments more than Stephen Colbert.

By now you’ve probably seen plenty of pictures of the burgers, fries, and pizza that Clemson football players were served during the team’s White House visit. Due to the government shutdown, President Trump took it upon himself to personally pay for the food. As a fast food fan himself President Trump likely saw this as the first good thing that has come out of the shutdown.

Obviously serving Big Macs in the White House in front of Abraham Lincoln’s portrait resulted in a lot of commentary from people around the country. People saw it as a perfect representation of Trump’s presidency. Others at least found it amusing if not harmless. Combining both of those perspectives was Stephen Colbert’s monologue from The Late Show:

We are far beyond the point of comparing Trump’s actions to former presidents and asking what the reactions would be like. Instead, Colbert can only compare Trump to exaggerated versions of Trump like one who would eat fried chicken from an upside down Liberty Bell.

And once again no segment on President Trump would be complete without a visit to his Twitter account. Credit to Colbert for continually doing his Trump voice when reading the tweets. It’s impressive it hasn’t annoyed his audience or the host himself at this point.

And it’s not a Trump tweet if there aren’t some curious spellings, either. Colbert has previously addressed reports Trump uses ghostwriters on Twitter. Spelling errors are supposedly part of a bigger plan to make Trump more relatable. Time will tell if writing “hamberders” on Twitter will help with those declining approval ratings, right?

On the one hand, it makes sense to serve a bunch of college kids fast food. But on the other hand, if you’re in the White House for a once in a lifetime experience then wouldn’t you want a once in a lifetime meal? Unfortunately for the Clemson Tigers, they came during the government shutdown led by a once in a lifetime president. Maybe a better meal will be that added motivation for Clemson to repeat.
