President Donald Trump’s tendency to ramble and strain the truth about history make him a perfect narrator for Drunk History.

One thing that people may not know about President Donald Trump is that his is a teetotaler. The reasons behind Trump’s avoidance of alcohol have been credited to both his desire to always be in control and as a response to his late brother’s struggle with alcoholism.

Still, Trump’s dislike of drinking hasn’t prevented comedians from suggesting that Trump has to be drunk to act and speak the way that he does. Jimmy Kimmel Live! has a running bit in which Trump is slowed down to half speed for weekly editions of  “Drunk Donald Trump.”

The Daily Show recently took this idea to new heights. To help promote the new season of fellow Comedy Central show Drunk History, Trevor Noah and company imagined what it would be like if Derek Waters sat down with President Trump for a history lesson.

The audio used by The Daily Show comes from an Oct. 2018 speech in Ohio in which President Trump was criticized for giving a bit too much praise to Confederate General Robert E. Lee. It’s amazing how well Trump’s recital of the “facts” and his cadence match up with the actual drunks who come to Drunk History.

We know from reports that President Trump isn’t exactly a big reader. Stories suggest that aides struggle to keep his attention when explaining information or trying to get him to look over documents. So it’s interesting to think about who gave Trump this mini history lesson on President Lincoln and General Ulysses S. Grant. We know for sure that Grant’s drinking problem stuck with Trump.
