Start the day on a high note by watching Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly reunite on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

It’s Thursday so it may be a little easier to get up and start the day now that the weekend is in sight. But if your normal cup of coffee isn’t doing the trick or you need a little extra boost then we may have the solution. How about an emotional duet performance by Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly??

Nobody could have really predicted that Ferrell and Reilly would become a comedy duo now about to release their fourth film together. Holmes and Watson will see them pair up again after Talladega Nights, Step Brothers, and Anchorman 2.  Reilly wasn’t well-known for his comedy work prior to 2006’s Talladega Nights and instead was critically acclaimed for his character work.

Partnering with Ferrell and director/writer/producer Adam McKay opened up another world for Reilly to show off his talents. The character dynamic between Ferrell and Reilly may be relatively the same in their films but they’ve managed to work on multiple projects without relying on a sequel. Credit to them for finding new ways to be creative in their comedy rather than just immediately jumping to Talladega Nights 2. Though nobody would complain about a Step Brothers sequel.

Which brings us to their latest film, Holmes and Watson. Between the Sherlock television series and the pair of movies starring Robert Downey, Jr., you’d think there would be too much of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective in pop culture. But nobody has had a take on the characters like Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. To show how excited they were to be back together on the big screen they decided to sing all about it on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

“Reunited” by Peaches and Herb may not have the rawness of “Boats and Hoes” or the haunting beauty of “Por ti Volare” as featured in Step Brothers. Yet in classic Will Ferrell style, they commit to the performance whether the audience wants to go along for the ride or not. Did Ferrell and Reilly have the same discussion over who would be Peaches and who would be Herb as they did over who would be Holmes and Watson?

Holmes and Watson hits theaters on Dec. 25. In addition to Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, the movie also stars Rebecca Hall, Ralph Fiennes, and Hugh Laurie. Ferrell will be back on late night with a Dec. 20 spot on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
