Is Saturday Night Live new tonight, Nov. 24?
By Matt Moore
Another dinner of Thanksgiving leftovers may not be anything new but will Saturday Night Live return for a fresh episode tonight?
Hopefully you have fully recovered from the Thanksgiving holiday or at the very least are trending in that direction. If you were lucky enough to get an extra day off then you’re probably in the middle of a nice long weekend. It’s Saturday, so will there be a new Saturday Night Live to add to the festivities?
The season has already had an extended break following the third episode of the season hosted by Seth Meyers. The brief hiatus ended when Jonah Hill joined the “Five Timers” club and turned in one of the better episodes of the season. Things continued to be up and down with hosts Liev Schrieber and Steve Carell.
It’s hard to say what exactly has been the cause for the inconsistency through the first couple months of the season. The hosts have all been eager to play along and there has been no shortage of stories from which to pull material. Political sketches have been limited to mostly just the cold opens and one pretaped sketch per night. The original content from SNL writers and performers may not be hitting home with everyone, especially those tuned in for the the political satire.
Unfortunately we’ll have to wait another week to see if Saturday Night Live starts trending upward. There will be no new episode for Nov. 24 as Studio 8H has been empty to observe the Thanksgiving holiday. If you’re still in the turkey day spirit, then you can revisit some of the show’s best Thanksgiving-themed sketches right here.
Saturday Night Live will return for an all-new episode on Dec. 1. The show will be hosted by Claire Foy and feature musical guest Anderson .Paak. It will be the first time hosting for Foy, known for her role on the Netflix series The Crown and for her latest film The Girl in the Spider’s Web. Expect a sketch spoofing The Crown considering the show’s popularity with American audiences and Foy’s association with the role despite bowing out after two season and replaced by Olivia Coleman. Last Night On will have a full preview next week!
