Conan O’Brien answers questions on Boston, The Simpsons, and more

Conan O’Brien checked in from his comedy tour to answer fan questions and provided some insight about the host’s life off camera.

Conan O’Brien has been noticeably absent from television the past few weeks. But it’s for a good reason as the veteran late night host in the middle of a hiatus that will run until January 2019. At that point Conan  will return to TBS with a new half-hour format better suited to O’Brien’s style.

But O’Brien is keeping busy leading up to his return to television. His podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend. will be debuting soon. He has also kicked off his nationwide comedy tour “Conan and Friends: An Evening of Stand-up and Investment Tips.” The tour will continue through December and you can  find information about dates on the Team Coco website.

If you can’t make it to one of those shows and need your Conan fix then worry no more. O’Brien sat down with comedian Rory Scovel backstage at the Boston stop of the tour to answer some fan questions. In typical Conan fashion, it took some time for a serious answer to come through. When it did, it gave us a little glimpse of Conan’s life.

The Q&A session starts off with some great news that Conan planned to film a remote at the Samuel Adams brewery in Boston. Not only does Sam Adams craft high-quality beers, but the brewery is an icon in O’Brien’s home city of Boston. One of his best remote segments came at another famous brewery and will help the people at Sam Adams prepare for Conan’s arrival:

Conan went on to express his love of Mr. Burns on The Simpsons. It’s an answer he’s given before and for anyone who has watch both The Simpsons and Conan’s career, the overlap is clear in the sense of humor used with Mr. Burns. Mr. Burns is the catalyst for the O’Brien-penned episode “Marge vs. the Monorail,” widely considered one of the best episodes in the series.

O’Brien then fielded a few questions about his hometown of Boston. It’s hard to verify his claim that the city has the best McDonald’s in the country but god bless anyone who tries to find out. O’Brien again confirmed his love of all things old-timey like Mr. Burns in describing how he walked through Boston looking to get punched in the head.

Conan also expressed his appreciation for his assistant Sona Movsesian who has appeared in a number of popular bits on Conan. It also sounds like she will be the co-host/sidekick for Conan’s podcast. Be sure to check back with Last Night On for all the updates!
