Saturday Night Live: Who’s hosting tonight, August 4th, 2018?
By Jeremy Dick
Who will be hosting tonight’s episode of Saturday Night Live airing on NBC? We have all the details about tonight’s repeat episode right here.
“Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”
As it stands, NBC’s sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live is on a hiatus between seasons. If we’re going by previous season premiere dates, we can expect new episodes to resume around the end of September. But although the show is on its summer break, it has been airing repeat episodes, giving viewers another chance to see some of the great shows they might have missed from the last season.
So, who’s hosting tonight’s repeat episode? According to NBC, it’s one other than Silicon Valley actor and comedian Kumail Nanjiani, coming off the success of the film The Big Sick. That movie was co-written by Nanjiani, and became rather successful. A brilliant and funny actor, Nanjiani kills it in this hosting gig on Saturday Night Live, for anyone who didn’t see the show when it first aired.
As explained by TheInterrobang, there was a certain media frenzy about the Harvey Weinstein scandal going on when this episode aired last year. Because of this, the bulk of the show focuses on these issues, which were obviously huge news at the time. Though Nanjiani still gets his funny moments, notably in his opening monologue which was well received by the crowd.
Also, if you’re wondering who the musical guest is, I’ll fill you in there as well. The talented P!nk is the official musical guest for this one. Now, obviously, if you’re a fan of hers, that give you plenty of reason to watch the episode.
Stay tuned for updates on the premiere of Season 44 of Saturday Night Live. No official date has been announced, but hopefully one will be coming within the next few weeks.
