You know Donald Trump is mad when it turns on Caps Lock when ranting on Twitter, and Stephen Colbert is responding to his latest ALL CAPS spiel.
I never thought I’d see the day when national leaders were threatening war using ALL CAPS on a social media account..’.
Let’s catch you up to speed really quick. Donald Trump is making headlines once again, with more criticism concerning his foreign policy. After a disastrous summit meeting with Vladimir Putin that gave the POTUS the impression of being cowardly and soft, he’s gone the completely opposite direction with Iran. Taking to Twitter, Trump posted a long rant threatening the foreign nation — pretty much the exact opposite behavior exhibited with Putin.
Last night on The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert spoke about the rant, amused by how Trump turned the Caps Lock on to type it. He compares it to the passive aggressive notes left by employees in the break room when they notice someone has taken their food from the refrigerator. To prove the point, Colbert goes into Trump mode, miming the president going on a rant against whoever took his Yoplait yogurt cups. “I AM NO LONGER A PAYROLL ASSISTANT WHO WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED THEFT OF MY HEALTHY DESSERT ALTERNATIVES!” he laments.
Of course, Colbert laughs about Trump’s warning to Iran to “be cautious,” which is funny considering how much he was willing to bend for Putin just last week. “Yes, be cautious,” explains Colbert. “You cross Donald Trump, you’re gonna get what other dictators got. A friendly summit, a handshake, and, if you’re not careful, an invitation to the White House!”
