After President Donald Trump went off the rails during a rally speech in Montana, Stephen Colbert wasn’t even sure how to properly respond to it.

Do you ever hear anyone say something that’s just so stupid, you don’t even know how to respond to it?

Last night on The Late Show, that seemed to be the case for host Stephen Colbert. Catching up after taking a week off, Colbert spoke about the Donald Trump rally in Montana last week, which saw him go off on several baffling tangents. And it all has Colbert questioning just what exactly is wrong with Trump’s “brain instrument” as it’s going haywire once again.

First, Trump went into a tirade against Elizabeth Warren and her Native-American heritage. After mocking her by calling her Pocahontas, Trump goes into a spiel about offering her a million dollars to take an internet DNA test. “And Trump’s a real expert on DNA tests. He has performed dozens of them,” Colbert jokes. He then mimes Trump telling his son Eric to take the DNA test again, refusing to believe the results.

Moments later, however, Trump is then in a strange rant about musical instruments, and that the only one he needs is his mouth. The president adds that, more importantly, the brain is attached to the mouth. It brings up the subject of Trump’s brain, and Colbert doesn’t even know how to properly respond to all of this nonsense. So, to bring in someone more qualified to do so, Colbert introduces her alter ego – a man who “just got hit in the head with a sack of bricks.”
