World famous chef Gordon Ramsay spoke to The Late Show’s Stephen Colbert about the time he cooked a meal for infamous Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Even for someone who’s possibly the world’s greatest chef, this had to feel awkward…

Last night on The Late Show, Gordon Ramsay stopped by for an interview with Stephen Colbert. The acclaimed master chef was there to promote his series 24 Hours to Hell and Back, so, of course the discussion came to his food preparation. And that’s when Ramsay revealed the interesting fact that he once prepared food for Vladimir Putin.

Colbert says he doesn’t want to get into politics during the interview, but he does want to ask Ramsay about a client he once served. Of course, he’s talking about Putin, revealing a photo of Putin and Ramsay together. Colbert notes that the pressure there must have been very high, to which Ramsay agrees. “If I f–k that one up, I’ll be in trouble, right?” Ramsay jokes.

Ramsay describes the experience as “never-wracking,” as it’s stressful making sure the seasonings are on point among everything else. But, ultimately, things apparently turned out well for Ramsay. He notes that Putin loved the food, which was a bit surprising, as he’s a “tough cookie.” Colbert sarcastically remarks that he’s heard Putin is a nice guy, resulting in some awkward laughter between the two.
