After Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pulled off a stunning win in the Democratic primary, Stephen Colbert took to The Late Show to respond.

As we all know, Bernie Sanders came up short in the Democratic primaries to be the nominee for the President of the United States. However, his ideas live on through those that supported him. One of his biggest supporters of all was Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who worked as an organizer for his campaign and is currently a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

At the Democratic primary, Ocasio-Cortez pulled off an upset victory in her bid for a seat in Congress, representing New York. A first time candidate, Ocasio-Cortez knocked out Democrat Joe Crowley, who’d served multiple terms. It’s a huge win for those supporting the progressive vision of people like Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez.

Last night on The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert spoke about the stunning win. Showing a clip of Ocasio-Cortez herself freaking out upon hearing the news, Colbert jokes she’s more surprised than any of us. But what surprises Colbert the most is her age – Ocasio-Cortez is only 28 years old! “When I was 28, I got my first can opener,” Colbert laments in comparison.

Of course, Donald Trump had to weigh in on the situation too. In a tweet (of course), Trump praised Crowley’s loss, blaming it on not being nicer to the president. But as Colbert points out, Trump shouldn’t be celebrating too much just yet. “I doubt the Democratic socialist Latina from Queens is a huge fan of yours,” Colbert reminds the president.
