Melania Trump has not been seen in public for over 25 days, and Stephen Colbert is turning to his viewers to try and find out where the First Lady is.

What happened to Melania Trump?

Last night on The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert brought the attention of his viewers to a certain, concerning matter. Apparently, the First Lady hasn’t been seen in public in almost a full month. “I’m not surprised, it took that Shawshank guy years to dig that tunnel out,” Colbert says about the situation. Still, it brings up the question of where Mrs. Trump has been all this time?

Colbert reminds viewers that last month, Melania did undergo a “minor surgery,” and presumably, she’s just been recovering and everything is fine. However, the Late Show host noticed Trump welcoming her back from surgery in a tweet in which he misspelled her name as “Melanie.” Colbert thinks that’s awkward, but envisions how worse it would be if he called her the wrong name in bed, as she could “hear it from down the hall.”

Curiously, a tweet from the First Lady’s official Twitter account promises that she’s just fine and she’s at home in the White House. The way it’s written, however seems very unbefitting of Melania. For his part, Colbert has his doubts believing the tweet was really written by her. “For one thing, Michelle Obama never said it in a speech,” he cracks.

It just all seems so weird to Colbert, who’s not used to seeing the First Lady of the United States spend so much time in hiding. You can watch this full segment in the YouTube video below!

Surely, Melania is just fine. Well, as fine as one can be when married to a person like Trump, but that’s a conversation for another time. New episodes of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert air weeknights at 11:35 p.m. EST on CBS.
